Rayon yarn export of China in 2023 decreased obviously after experiencing a negative growth in 2021, as the volume reached 130.579kt, with a year-on-year decrease of 14.61%. Among them, the export of single yarn was 113.144kt, with a year-on-year decrease of 14.05%, and that of ply yarn was 17.434kt, with a year-on-year decrease of 18.05%.

In 2023, the export of rayon single yarn to the five major countries (Brazil, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Vietnam) was 113.046kt, with a year-on-year decrease of 15.25%. Among the five destinations, only Pakistan saw a year-on-year increase of 65.51% in the export volume, while others generally saw a reduction of 0-17%, especially a noticeable decline in India.

The main origins of rayon single yarn in 2023 were Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Xinjiang, and Sichuan, with an export volume of 116.621kt, a year-on-year decrease of 20%. The export from Sichuan increased by 16%, while that from other regions generally decreased. The export from Zhejiang was reduced by half, and the reduction of other areas ranged within 6-23%.

The export of rayon yarn in 2023 dropped obviously, close to the volume of 2019. There was a notable reduction in single yarn, but ply yarn saw a bigger year-on-year decrease. In terms of destinations, the biggest reduction was attributed by India and Bangladesh, with the former mainly consuming vortex-spun yarn and the latter absorbing ply yarn. As for the origins, the reduction was mainly in Zhejiang and Jiangsu, with the former reaching around 14kt. While exports in the polyester industry chain were booming in 2023, there was also a trend of downgrading overseas consumption. Therefore, cotton spinning, which had a relatively high price, was squeezed and hit to a certain extent.
