A Working Principle

1Utilizing the water direct evaporation cooling principle, see Figure 1, when the air pass through the wet surface, the water absorbs the air heat during the water evaporation process, then the air temperature is reduced. See Figure 2, the enthalpy-humidity figure of the wet air is a similar constant-enthalpy humidity-increasing and temperature-decreasing process.

2Why the people usually cannot feel the direct temperature-decreasing effect usually? There is nearly no condition that the air can sufficiently contact the wet surface; there is some temperature-decreasing effect when stand near the seaside or waterfall, but it is unobvious.

3See Figure 1, the wet-curtain is the special honeycomb shape, when it is drenched, the 1 m² wet-curtain with 100 mm thickness produces nearly 500 m² wet surface. When the air flows through such huge wet surface, the water sufficiently evaporates, that the air temperature is decreased obviously.

B. Advantages and Disadvantages of Water-Evaporation Air Conditioner

1Advantages:

aGreat power-saving, the initial investment is extremely little, only the fan and the water bump can consume the electricity; the air-conditioner can be used in summer for 4~6 months. Comparing with the split air-conditioner, the saved power fee can buy the water-evaporation air conditioner.

bThe air is very clean and cool. The air-conditioner runs with the whole-new air, the whole sucked fresh air is cooled, supplied to the inside room and then exhausted. The inside air is exchange one time per 1~2 minutes, that the peculiar smell is exhausted completely.

cThe installation and the maintenance are very simple and convenient; the common water-power workers can install and maintain the air-conditioner.

2Disadvantages:

aThe temperature-decreasing extent is determined by the outside weather condition, when the temperature is 37 (the humidity is 50-65%) in summer in southern area, the inside temperature can only be decreased to 28-30; but in the western dry area, the temperature can be decreased to below 25. That such air-conditioner cannot be applied in the high grade restaurants and office buildings.

bThe humidity increases when the air temperature is decreases, that the air-conditioner cannot be applied in the places where require the strict humidity condition, such as the puffed food, the precise pharmacy, the precise electronics, etc.

3All in all, in most factories, business places (such as the network bars, the supermarkets), public places (such as the waiting rooms, the mess halls, the playing grounds) and so on, the air-conditioner can satisfy the basic comfort, provide the fresh air and exhaust the peculiar smell. The initial investment is saved, and the running power consumption is little. A lot of practical cases prove that the water-evaporation air conditioner is very suitable for these places.

C. Temperature-Decreasing Effects

    The following figure describes the air-supplying temperatures under the different temperature and humidity conditions.

D. Air-Conditioner Effects under Different Temperature in a Day

For the common weather, the afternoon temperature is highest in a day, but the humidity is lowest. See the figure, when the highest temperature in a day requires the temperature decrease, the temperature-decreasing extent of the air-conditioner is the hugest; so such air conditioner can satisfy the requirements.
