US textile and apparel imports declined month-on-month in Dec
The latest data show that US textile and apparel imports reached 6.31 billion square meters in Dec, up by 22.2% year-on-year but down 7.6% month-on-month respectively; the volume from China was 3080 million square meters, up by 30.5% year-on-year but down 11.4% month-on-month. In Jan-Dec, the cumulative US textile and apparel imports were 67.38billion square meters, down 3.5% year-on-year; the volume from China was 31.45 billion square meters, down 4.3% year-on-year.
US textile and apparel imports value in Dec was 7.33 billion USD, down 5.8% year-on-year and 6.5% month-on-month; that from China reached 2.09 billion USD, down 3.5% year-on-year and 11.2% month-on-month. In Jan-Dec, the cumulative US textile and apparel imports were 89.71 billion square meters, down 19.4% year-on-year; the volume from China was 25.27 billion square meters, down 30.7% year-on-year.
The volume and the value of US textile and apparel imported from China decreased to 48.9% and 28.5% respectively.
In 2020, US textile and apparel import market gradually recovered after a sharp decline, especially from September to November, it recovered rapidly and a certain decline appeared in December.
