Pakistani yarn export reduced in Jan

1.Cotton



In Jan 2021, Pakistan imported 107,500tons of cotton, up 58.85% year-on-year and 16.32% month-on-month. Comparing the imports in Jan 2019 and Jan 2020, it can be seen that Pakistani cotton imports are increasing year by year.

2.Cotton yarn



In Jan 2021, Pakistani cotton yarn export reached 32,700tons, down by 18.99% year-on-year and 16.84% month on month.

3. Textile



In Jan 2021, the import value of Pakistani textile and apparel reached 389 million USD, up 31.85% year-on-year but down 1.66% month-on-month. It also showed upward in the same period of the past three years.



In Jan 2021, Pakistani textile and apparel exports amounted to 1.323 billion USD, up 10.79% year-on-year but down 5.54% month-on-month.

4. Conclusion
In Jan 2021, Pakistani cotton price rose further, and the demand for imported cotton increased both in the short term and in the medium to long term. In a view of Pakistani yarn export volume, it decreased mainly due to the high price of Pakistani yarn in the early stage and the decrease of overseas orders. As to textiles and apparel, the import and export value in January 2021 decreased compared with that in December. On the whole, Pakistani cotton yarn and textiles and apparel exports fell month-on-month. In addition to the price factor, it was also related to the approaching Chinese New Year holidays.
