Hengli yields modified PBAT products in Jiangsu

Hengli Petrochemical announced on November 22 that its subsidiary plant Kanghui New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. yielded the PBAT modified products, including modified starch series and modified inorganic powder series. Hengli disclosed in mid-2022 report that it was building a 80kt/year PBAT modification plant in Fenhu, Suzhou (Jiangsu Kanghui New material Technology Co., Ltd.). 

The series of modified starch was modified by blending PBAT, PLA and natural starch. 

This series of products adopt starch plasticizing technology independently developed by Hengli Petrochemical, which can turn ordinary starch into thermoplastic starch, so that it has more than 25% biological base content and excellent mechanical properties. It is mainly used in biodegradable bags such as express bags, vest bags, garbage bags and so on. 

The series of modified inorganic powder is modified by blending of PBAT, PLA and inorganic mineral powder. Through the dispersion treatment of inorganic mineral powder, this series of products can enhance the compatibility of MD (inorganic powder), PBAT and PLA, and improve the tensile strength and heat sealing performance of the material. The product is white and slightly transparent after film formation, and its tensile strength and heat bonding strength are extremely high. it is mainly used in biodegradable packaging bags, biodegradable tape, biodegradable melt blown materials, 3D printing consumables and other fields. 

Kanghui New material has an annual production capacity of 33000 tons of PBAT in Yingkou, and it has successfully started up and produced qualified products in November 2021. 

In addition, the 450kt/year degradable plastics (flexible production line can produce PBS/PBAT/PBT and other products) project in Changxing Island, Dalian has completed the preliminary infrastructure, is being debugged according to the production line. Hengli Petrochemical once predicted in 2022 that it could be put into production in the third quarter of this year.
