Wanhua Chemical's 1200kt/year ethylene cracking plant holds on-site opening ceremony

Wanhua Chemical's 1.2 million tons/year ethylene and downstream high-end polyolefin project ethylene cracking plant held on-site opening ceremony on March 9, 2023.

The first phase of Wanhua Chemical ethylene project, with an investment of 16.8 billion yuan, was completed and put into production in 2020, with an annual capacity of 1 million tons. It is the first million-ton ethylene project in Shandong Province. The project complements the key raw material chain of Wanhua chemical polyurethane industry, realizes the linkage of industrial chain and value chain synergy, and makes Wanhua Yantai Industrial Park the largest and most competitive polyurethane manufacturing base in the world.

The second phase of ethylene project plans to invest 17.6 billion yuan to build 1.2 million tons/year ethylene and downstream high-end polyolefin projects, mainly to provide raw materials for the industrialization of self-developed high-end polyolefin products such as POE and LDPE. The construction of the project includes seven units, including 1.2 million tons/year ethylene cracking unit (including 90000 cubic meters/hour PSA), 550000 tons/year cracking gasoline hydrogenation unit (including 30000 tons/year styrene extraction unit), 400000 tons/year aromatics extraction unit, 200000 tons/year butadiene unit, 250000 tons/year LDPE unit, 2×200000 tons/year POE unit, as well as supporting storage and transportation projects, public works and auxiliary facilities, environmental protection projects, etc. Some of the storage and transportation, public auxiliary facilities and environmental protection projects of the project rely on the existing or under construction of Wanhua Chemical.
