China's top 100 online retailers released

China Chain-Store & Franchise Association (CCFA) recently released the 2023 China Online Retail Top 100 list. The top ten companies are JD.com, Alibaba, Vipshop, Suning.com, Huitongda, Haier, Xiaomi, Midea, Wal-Mart, and Easyhome.

Data shows that the total sales of the top 100 online retail companies exceed 2 trillion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 13.19%. Among them, online sales from the top 20 companies account for more than 90%, and the online sales threshold of the top 100 companies has risen to 500 million yuan. From the perspective of business types, there are 50 consumer goods companies, accounting for 18.6% of the top 100 online sales, 43 non-e-commerce retail companies, accounting for 15% of sales. From a geographical point of view, East China takes the leading position with 47 companies, accounting for 33.6% of online sales, and companies in North China account for the highest proportion of online sales, reaching 52.8%.

It is worth mentioning that most of the new entrants to the list in 2023 are companies with new retail formats and new models. In 2022, with the further optimization of epidemic prevention and control measures, the policy of expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption continues to show the resilience of online retail development. China's online retail sales reached 13.79 trillion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 4%. The online retail sales of physical goods reached 11.96 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%, accounting for 27.2% of the total retail sales of social consumer goods. In the past year, among the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing, and consumer goods respectively increased by 16.1%, 3.5% and 5.7%. Online sales of consumer food and beverages achieved double-digit growth, while clothing and daily necessities maintained steady growth.
