Achieving carbon neutrality by 2048, Wanhua Chemical releases sustainable strategy

Recently, Wanhua Chemical announced its 2023 sustainable development strategy and 2022 ESG report.

Wanhua Chemical is committed to peaking its carbon emissions before 2030 and strives to achieve carbon neutrality by 2048 based on Scope 1 and Scope 2 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Scope 1 and Scope 2 refer to direct emissions that the company owns or controls, as well as indirect emissions generated by company activities but not owned or controlled by the company.

Wanhua Chemical practices sustainable development strategy in 8 dimensions

Wanhua Chemical stated that its sustainable development strategy aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, implementing strategic initiatives in 8 major areas: climate neutrality, environmental protection, industrial innovation, safety and health, talent development, social responsibility, corporate governance, and business ethics.

Wanhua Chemical reduces carbon emissions per ton of product by 14%

Currently, Wanhua has achieved significant milestones in its ESG plan. In 2022, the company's greenhouse gas emissions per ton of product decreased by 14% compared to the end of 2021, and it aims to achieve at least a 20% reduction by 2030. It is estimated that by 2030, Wanhua's all joint clean energy projects will provide the company with 14.9 billion kilowatt-hours of clean power annually and reduce 8.65 million tons of carbon emissions.
