Kingfa Technology: Biobased BDO to start production by end-2023

It has been reported that Kingfa Technology (600143.SH) will announce its 2023 interim report on August 29, with a focus on its biobased BDO project in Liaoning.

On February 7, 2023, Kingfa Technology y stated on the investor interaction platform that the company established Liaoning Kingfa Biomaterial Co., Ltd. in 2022, actively developing biobased monomers and biobased materials technology research, and steadily progressing with the construction of a biobased BDO project with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons. The project is expected to start production by the end of 2023. In addition, the company's 30,000-ton PLA project successfully completed trial runs and achieved stable production by the end of 2022. Currently, the company's PLA-related products have been sold externally.

There are very few global manufacturers of biobased BDO, and the production is not high. Overseas, there are the Genomatica biobased BDO project in the United States and the collaborative project between Cargill in the United States and Helm in Germany, with a capacity of 65,000 tons. In China, Yuanli Chemical (603217) started production of its biobased BDO project in 2021 (designed annual capacity of 30,000 tons) and has achieved bulk exports to the European Union market.
