According to the 2023 Xinjiang Cotton Industry Development Forum and Xinjiang Cotton Industry Production and Marketing Matchmaking Meeting, as of the end of Oct, there were 3,725 textile and apparel enterprises in Xinjiang, an increase of about 5.7 times from 2014. Among them, more than 1,350 enterprises from other provinces, regions, and municipalities have invested in Xinjiang.

Benefiting from the unique advantages of Xinjiang cotton, the cotton textile industry chain is accelerating its extension. From 2014 to 2022, the cumulative fixed asset investment in Xinjiang's textile and apparel industry was 285.9 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 20%, ranking among the top in the investment growth rate of major industries in Xinjiang.

In 2022, Xinjiang's yarn, fabric, chemical fiber, and apparel capacity are 5.11 times, 13 times, 50.8%, and 4.66 times that of 2014, respectively. In the first nine months of 2023, Xinjiang's yarn output was 1.726 million tons, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year, fabric output was 926 million meters, an increase of 41.2% year-on-year, and chemical fiber output was 619kt, an increase of 18.8% year-on-year.

It is worth mentioning that the manufacture of polyester fiber has achieved historic breakthroughs. The XPCC's first division in Alar city built and put into operation a 300kt/yr polyester fiber project at the end of 2022, realizing the zero breakthrough in the manufacture of polyester fiber in Xinjiang, and Zhongtai's 250kt/yr polyester staple fiber project will also be put into operation by the end of 2023.

This marks that the textile raw materials in Xinjiang have achieved a tripod of cotton, viscose fiber, and polyester fiber, laying the foundation for the coordinated development of Xinjiang's cotton and oil resources and creating conditions for the construction of a highland of textile and apparel industry gathering and an export processing base in Xinjiang.
