Nomex® is functional fiber developed and trademarked by Dupont. This special inherently flame resistant aramid fiber is well known for its excellent strength and resistance to thermal and chemical exposures. It can stand a continuous temperature of 196°C or 375°F. Nomex® fabrics are among the higher-level performance and more expensive thermal protective fabrics, such as Nomex III® and Nomex datel C®. Nomex IIIA ® has the best performance and has been most extensively used for making personal protective gears.

Nomex® has the following properties and benefits:

· Does not melt or drip under intensive heat.
· Having dimensional stability when exposed to high temperature
· High strength-to-weight ratio
· Good abrasion resistance
· Good dielectric properties
· Resistant to acids and alkalis

· Laundering does not damage its flame resistant property.
Nomex IIIA ®
Also called Nomex® Antistatic, made of 93% Nomex®, 5% Kevlar® and 2% P140 static-dissipative fiber.
Uses: structural firefighting, oil refineries, petrochemical plants, wildland and forest firefighting, pilot gear, astronauts gear, police and military clothing.
FR fabrics: AtEase®
AtEase 450, AtEase500: Weight: 4.5oz and 6oz respectively. Used for making shirts, thin type of trousers, coveralls and jackets. Colors available: fire service navy, dark navy, natural, tan, yellow, red, light blue, spruce and orange.
AtEase 680,AtEase 750Weight: 6.8oz and 7.5oz respectively. Used for making firefighting garments, thick type of flame resistant coveralls and uniforms. Colors available: royal blue, fire service navy, dark navy.
