Rayon yarn export of China in Nov hits new lows within the year

According to customs data, rayon yarn export of China reached 6.595kt in Nov 2023, with a month-on-month reduction of 27% and a year-on-year decrease of 7%. Among them, the export of single yarn was 5.432kt, with a year-on-year decrease of 6% and a month-on-month decrease of 28%. The export of ply yarn was 1.163kt, with a year-on-year decrease of 13% and a month-on-month decrease of 22%. The exports of total rayon yarn and single yarn both hit new lows within the year.

In Nov 2023, the export of rayon single yarn to the five major countries (Brazil, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Vietnam) was 4.533kt, with a month-on-month decrease of 31% and a year-on-year decrease of 3%, accounting for 83% of the total export volume of single yarn. The export to India declined substantially in Nov.

The main origins of rayon single yarn in Nov 2023 were Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Xinjiang, and Sichuan, with an export volume of 4.82kt, a month-on-month decline of 28% and a year-on-year decrease of 9%, accounting for 89% of the total export volume of single yarn.

The export volume of rayon yarn in Nov hits new lows within the year, and also stays at a historically lower level, which is mainly caused by a sharp decline in the export to India. The falling price of yarn in Dec attracts the foreign buyers, but the effect is not expected to be evident. If rayon yarn price keeps falling, the buying interest from India may improve much, but with the approach of Chinese Lunar New Year, the export volume may enlarge after the holiday.
