November BDO exports climb up on the month

According to the data from China customs, exports of product under Hs code 29053990 were at 14.4kt in Nov 2023, up by 49% on the month and 94% on the year respectively. The total export volume in Jan-Nov, 2023 approached 192kt, a year-on-year surge of 196.6%.

After combined screening, the BDO export was estimated to be around 10kt in Nov 2023, up by 99% over last month and 121% on the year, which has apparently decreased compared with the high level in Apr-Jul. Muted overseas demand was the major reason for retreating BDO export.

The average price of export was close to that of domestic price, which also gradually decreased this year. In Nov, the average export price was around US$1.257/kg, down by US$0.087/kg over last month.

As for the export destinations of BDO, Vietnam remained the biggest market, accounting for 33% of the total export. Taiwan, China came the next and it was also a major import origin for BDO, as a key BDO production base and consumption destination except for Chinese mainland. In Nov, exports of BDO to Vietnam and Taiwan, China rose and those to European nations like Italy also increased on the month.

As for the export origins, except for trade ports intensive regions like Shanghai and Jiangsu, some other production provinces like Xinjiang, Ningxia and Henan were also major export origins.
