China's PSF exports hit record high in Q1, 2025

According to the China Customs, uncombed or uncarded PSF exports of China reached 137.4kt in Mar, 2025, an increase of 22.7% year on year and 38.8% month on month. Imports were 7,900 tons in Mar, down 1.3% year on year and up 36.2% month on month.

In the first quarter of 2025, the exports amounted to 369.9kt, an increase of 32.5% from the same period of 2023, to be the record high. Imports totaled 21.59kt during the period, down 18.4% year on year.

In terms of the top 10 export destinations in the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam maintained the largest export markets, with a volume of 66,987 tons, up about 16.5% from the same period of 2024, with a proportion of 18%. Pakistan ranked the second place, with a volume of 48,553 tons, up 84.55% year on year, and its proportion reached 13%. Brazil took the third place, seeing a yearly growth of 73%. Exports to these countries were mainly virgin PSF, and the good exports also supported the high operating rate of virgin PSF plants this year.

Since Apr, end-user exports are once stagnant impacted by the U.S. tariff policy, but with a 90-day pause on countries except China, the entrepot trade recovers again. But for direct-spun PSF, most plants reflect that their exports have no influence currently. Pay attention to the tariff situation in the major export destinations later.
