CNITA and CCFA issues joint statement about fiber raw materials and safety of facial towels

Recently, issues concerning the fiber raw materials and safety of facial towels have attracted attention from the industry. To better protect consumers' rights and interests and promote the healthy and orderly development of the industry, China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association (CNITA) and China Chemical Fibers Association (CCFA) hereby issue the following joint statement:

1. At present, facial towels comply with the product standard "Soft Towels" (GB/T 40276) and the hygiene standard "Hygienic Requirements for Disposable Sanitary Products" (GB 15979). These standards clearly specify the product's performance, safety and hygiene properties, as well as testing methods, providing technical support for safeguarding consumers' health and safety.

2. Chemical fiber is an important part of textile raw materials, accounting for more than 75% of the global supply of textile raw materials. They have been widely used in clothing, home textiles, medical care, sanitation and other fields. Among them, polyester, viscose fiber and lyocell fiber are common raw materials for textiles such as wet and dry towels, underwear, T-shirts and bed sheets. Their product performance and use safety have been verified and recognized by the global market for a long time.

3. Various chemicals are used in the production process of both natural fibers and chemical fibers. However, the industry has set strict limits on the residual amount to ensure the safety of product application.

4. Natural fibers and chemical fibers have their own characteristics and advantages in terms of performance and consumer experience, and both can meet consumer needs. It is hoped that enterprises will earnestly fulfill their social responsibilities, strictly standardize product labeling and conduct accurate publicity. The media should report objectively and comprehensively. All parties should work together to maintain a good market order, protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, and create a good consumption environment.
