CCA Xinjiang cotton harvest and sales progress by mid-October, 2025
According to China Cotton Association's investigation over 811 growers in Xinjiang in mid-October 2025, the machine-picking in Xinjiang has been fully launched. Benefiting from generally favorable weather conditions, farmers were actively selling cotton, and both the harvest and sales progress of Xinjiang's new cotton this year were faster than last year. As of October 15, the cotton harvest progress in Xinjiang reached 57.5% and the sales progress hit 40.1%, up 5.6 and 11.9 percentage points year-on-year respectively.
For the harvest: Northern Xinjiang encountered rainfall and cooling before the National Day holiday, which temporarily hindered harvesting; after the weather turned better, farmers accelerated the harvest. Southern Xinjiang had suitable light and temperature conditions, which were conducive to cotton boll opening and harvesting. For sales: Before the National Day holiday, the moisture content of seed cotton was relatively high, ginners strictly controlled quality and were cautious in purchasing; coupled with the decline in international cotton prices, the sales price of seed cotton was lower than that before the holiday. After the holiday, purchasing and processing work was fully launched, and the sales price of seed cotton gradually stabilized along with the cotton price. In the first half of October, the average sales price was 6.1yuan/kg, down 5% year-on-year and 3.7% from September.
