CCA China cotton harvest and sales progress by November, 2025
According to China Cotton Association's investigation over 1,950 growers in November 2025, as ofNovember 30, cotton harvests in China werebasically completed. Harvests in North Xinjiang and South Xinjiang wrapped up in the early and late November respectively; harvests in the Yellow River Basin and Yangtze River Basin in inland regions were also mostly finished by the end of the month, with only a small amount of leftover cotton remaining. Favorable weather conditions in Xinjiang during the month facilitated cotton drying and selling. Farmers sold cotton as it was picked, resulting in a selling pace slightly faster than the same period last year. In contrast, inland farmers still held relatively large cotton inventories, with the selling progress lagging behind last year's level.
As of November 30, the national cotton picking progress reached 99.9%, flat year-on-year; the selling progress stood at 97.5%, 0.6 percentage points faster than the same period last year. Specifically, the picking progress of inland cotton hit 99.5%, 0.5 percentage points slower year-on-year; its selling progress was 54.2%, 8.5 percentage points behind the previous year's figure.
Xinjiang cotton farmers sold their produce actively to avoid potential price declines in the later period, keeping the seed cotton price relatively stable. As of November 30, the selling progress in Xinjiang reached 99.1%, 0.6 percentage points faster year-on-year; the average monthly selling price was 6.2yuan/kg, down 1.6% year-on-year.
Cotton picking and selling in Gansu were fully completed. The average monthly selling price in November was 6.4yuan/kg, unchanged from the same period last year.
Picking in the Yellow River Basin was fully finished. Affected by factors such as lower seed cotton prices compared with last year and a smaller number of purchasing enterprises, farmers' selling progress was sluggish. As of November 30, the selling progress in this region was 45.5%, 10.3 percentage points slower year-on-year; the average monthly selling price was 6.9yuan/kg, a slight decrease of 0.2% year-on-year. Particularly in Henan and Shandong, excessive rainfall since October has significantly delayed winter wheat sowing. Farmers remained occupied with winter planting work, leading to a notable slowdown in cotton selling progress compared with last year.
A small amount of leftover cotton remained unpicked in the Yangtze River Basin. As of November 30, the picking progress here was 98.5%, 1.5 percentage points slower year-on-year; the selling progress reached 71.5%, 2.9 percentage points behind the same period last year; the average monthly selling price was 5.5yuan/kg, a sharp drop of 10.2% year-on-year.
