China's spandex export declines YOY in Q1 2026

According to customs data under HS Code 54024410, China's spandex exports reached 18,300 tons in the first quarter of 2026, a year-on-year decrease of 14.9% (equivalent to a reduction of 3,207 tons). The average cumulative export price stood at $3.950/kg, down $0.144/kg year on year. In March 2026, spandex exports amounted to 5,940 tons, up 16.6% month on month but down 17.4% year on year. The monthly average export price was $4.125/kg, rising $0.226/kg month on month. Driven by rising domestic spandex prices and exchange rate fluctuations, the growth of export prices widened further.

Major export destinations

In Q1 2026, the spandex was exported to 95 countries and regions in Chinese mainland, a year-on-year decrease of 2 destinations. Export performance to major destinations showed obvious divergence in growth and decline. Among top-ranked destinations, exports to Vietnam, Egypt, Brazil and Indonesia increased by varying rates ranging from 5.7% to 69.6%. By contrast, exports to the United Arab Emirates, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Korea dropped by 10% to over 50%. Exports to the US edged up slightly by 3.4% to 710 tons. Meanwhile, cumulative exports to the other 85 destinations plunged by 29.7% year on year.

Export monthly average price

The quarterly average export price of spandex in Q1 2026 was $3.950/kg, down $0.144/kg year on year. Prices climbed month by month during the quarter: the average export price in January was $3.844/kg, $3.899/kg in February, and $4.125/kg in March, representing an increase of $0.281/kg from the lowest level. It is expected that with the further rise of domestic spandex market prices in April, the average export price is anticipated to see a notable increase.

Major export origins

Based on Q1 2026 spandex export shipment and customs declaration statistics, key regions with positive export growth included Zhejiang, Henan and Ningxia, with year-on-year growth of 9.6%, 25.2% and 82.9% respectively, accounting for export shares of 49.5%, 12.6% and 3.9%. In comparison, spandex exports declared via Guangdong, Fujian, Chongqing and Jiangsu declined year on year by 10% to 70%.
