China's retail sales of textiles and garments increase y-o-y in Apr, 2026

From January to April, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 16,494.1 billion yuan, up by 1.9% year on year. Specifically, the retail sales of consumer goods excluding automobiles reached 15,205.3 billion yuan, up by 3.1%. In April, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 3,724.7 billion yuan, up by 0.2% year on year.

In April 2026, retail sales of garments, footwear, hats, and knitwear by enterprises above designated size nationwide amounted to 110.79 billion yuan, up 3.6% year on year. For the January-April period, retail sales of garments, footwear, hats, and knitwear reached 521.23 billion yuan, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 8.1%.

In April 2026, retail sales of garments by enterprises above designated size nationwide stood at 79.54 billion yuan, an increase of 4.0% year on year. For the January-April period, retail sales of garments reached 381.71 billion yuan, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 8.3%.
