In Dec 2021, Pakistani textile and apparel export value totaled 1.623 billion USD, up 15.89% year-on-year but down 6.49% month-on-month. Natural gas prices have risen sharply recently, and natural gas accounted for a relatively large proportion of the domestic energy structure in Pakistan. As a result, the costs of Pakistan's textile mills soared, resulting in missed schedules. In Dec, the export decreased month-on-month but still increased year-on-year. Pakistan's export orders in 2021 were relatively large. Except for February, Pakistan's monthly exports increased year on year. Pakistan's annual textile and clothing exports in 2021 were 17.35 billion yuan, up 32.7% over the same period last year and 27.7% over 2019.

In Dec 2021, Pakistani textile and apparel import value totaled 392 billion USD, down 0.93% year-on-year and 8.6% month-on-month. At the same time, there was a strong demand for cotton textiles in Pakistani domestic market throughout 2021, and its textile and apparel import value was 4.596 billion ISD, up 43% over the same period last year and 12.49% over 2019.

Although textile costs rose in Dec due to rising cotton prices and soaring natural gas prices, Pakistani apparel imports and exports fell slightly under pressure from exports and domestic sales. However, Pakistani textile and apparel imports and exports increased significantly in 2021 compared with the same period last year, indicating that Pakistan's demotic textile and clothing demand and export orders were good this year, so Pakistan's textile industry may be set to improve.
