China's combed yarn imports expanded

I. China's cotton yarn imports totaled 115.7kt in Sep 2025

In Sep 2025, China's cotton yarn imports was around 115.7kt, a slight decrease of about 3.4kt compared to the previous month. In the first three quarters of 2025, cumulative imports of cotton yarn totaled about 918.7kt. Although the gap compared to the same period last year has narrowed, cumulative imports still declined by approximately 9.3% year-on-year.

II China's cotton yarn imports by origin in Sep 2025

In September, China's imports of Vietnamese cotton yarn slightly decreased to 69.33kt, with its share falling below 60%. Pakistani yarn imports totaled 16.63kt, declining by several hundred tons compared to August. Indian yarn arrivals saw a slight increase in September, with a total clearance volume of 6.89kt, and further growth is expected in October. Additionally, imports of Indonesian cotton yarn rose to approximately 4.2kt, with a significant volume of low-priced ring-spun cotton yarn and compact-spun combed yarns arriving.

III China's cotton yarn imports by structure in Sep 2025

In Sep, carded single yarn below 8s accounted for 27.49% of total imports, with a total volume of 31.8kt, showing an increase compared to August. In contrast, imports of carded single yarn 8-25s declined significantly, with its share dropping to 48.32% in September, totaling 55.9kt. Meanwhile, imports of carded yarn 30.4–46.6s remained largely unchanged from the previous month, totaling approximately 7,812 tons. Clearance volume of combed cotton yarn 30.4–46.6s reached around 7,157 tons, an increase of over 1,000 tons compared to August.

IV. China's blended cotton yarn imports in Sep 2025

China's imports of blended cotton yarn reached 12.1kt in Sep 2025, a decrease of 8,000 tons compared to August. From January to September 2025, cumulative imports of blended cotton yarns reached 118kt. Among these, carded single yarn 8-25s accounted for approximately 60% of the total, with arrivals totaling 7,167 tons. Currently, imported blended cotton yarns show no significant price advantage over domestic products of similar specifications, and downstream export orders from commercial supermarkets remain limited, resulting in an overall subdued expansion in import volume.
