On November 27, 2023, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Ecology and Environment Department proposed a reply decision for the environmental impact assessment report of the 200kt/year BDO project for natural gas production by Baicheng Longyu New Materials Co., Ltd. in the Baicheng Industrial Park Chemical Park in Aksu.

Project overview

Project name: Baicheng Longyu New Materials Co., Ltd.'s 200kt/year BDO project for natural gas production in Xinjiang

Construction location: Located in the chemical park of the Baicheng Industrial Park in Aksu

Construction unit: Baicheng Longyu New Materials Co., Ltd.

Environmental impact assessment unit: Urumqi Jinxiu Shanhuan Environmental Technology Research Co., Ltd.

Construction content: The main content of the project is: two sets of 100kt/year BDO units, one set of 70kt/year acetylene unit, one set of 300kt/year methanol unit, two sets of 240kt/year formaldehyde units (calculated as 37% formaldehyde) and supporting facilities.

Xinjiang Baicheng Longyu New Materials Co., Ltd. occupies a total area of 142.5 hm2, divided into two boundary zones, north and south. This project is located in the southern boundary zone (75.46 hm2). The land is divided into eight functional zones: Torch zone, thermal center, sewage treatment zone, storage and transportation zone, BDO unit zone, natural gas acetylene production zone, methanol and formaldehyde synthesis zone, and auxiliary facilities zone. The project shares the thermal center, sewage treatment zone, storage and transportation zone, and other public auxiliary facilities with the coking ethylene glycol project. The northern boundary zone is reserved for the coking ethylene glycol project and is mainly divided into four functional zones: coking unit zone, warehouse zone, 200kt/year ethylene glycol unit zone, and factory front zone. The project shares the warehouse zone and factory front zone with the coking ethylene glycol project.
