Polyester cord fabric export ascends but import descends in Jan-Aug, 2025

According to the data from China customs, import of cord fabric made from high-tenacity polyester yarn (hereinafter referred to as polyester cord fabric) was at 2052 tons in Jan-Aug, 2025, a year-on-year decrease of 44.7%, and export of polyester cord fabric was at 127295 tons, up near 13.9% on annual basis. The net exports amounted to 125243 tons, up by 15.9% on annual basis.

Polyester cord fabric is still a net exported product in China.

Monthly exports of polyester cord fabrics averaged at 15912 tons in Jan-Aug, 2025, hitting the yearly high in 18084 tons in May year to date. Imports of polyester cord fabrics hit the lowest level in Feb at 201 tons since last year and kicked the year-to-date high in Jul at 395 tons but decreased to 202 tons in Aug.

Among the export destinations, in Jan-Aug, 2025, Thailand kept the largest export destination, accounting for around 25.9%, followed by Japan and South Korea, taking up around 8.38% and 6.71% respectively. China's polyester cord fabrics were still mostly exported to Asia.

As for the YOY change of absolute export volume, export to the most major markets continued rising on the year, and the increment of exports to Thailand was the biggest.

In summary, the export of polyester cord fabrics ascended on the year in Jan-Aug, 2025 but the import continued reducing on annual basis, and the major export destinations did not change much.
