Türkiye's exports to its neighboring countries-Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece-rose 3.5% year-over-year in the first nine months of 2025, reaching nearly $20.3 billion, official data showed.

According to figures compiled by Turkish news agency Anadolu from the Ministry of Trade, Türkiye's total exports between January and September climbed 4.1% from a year earlier to $200.6 billion.

Exports to the seven neighboring countries amounted to $20.29 billion in the period, up from $19.6 billion last year.

Iraq tops export destinations

Iraq remained Türkiye's largest export market among its neighbors, with sales totaling around $7.4 billion. It was followed by Bulgaria with $3.4 billion, Greece with $2.7 billion, and Georgia with $1.8 billion.

On an annual basis, the sharpest growth was seen in exports to Syria, which surged 51%, followed by Greece with 9.2% and Bulgaria with 6.2%.

By sector, "chemicals and chemical products" topped Türkiye's exports to its neighbors, totaling $3.19 billion. "Cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and products" ranked second with $2.3 billion, followed by "steel" with $1.57 billion.

The lowest export figures were recorded in ornamental plants and products at $29.8 million, hazelnuts and products at $39 million, and dried fruits and products at $51 million.

The data cover Türkiye's land-border neighbors-Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece. Trade with Nakhchivan was excluded due to the absence of official data, while there is no direct overland trade between Türkiye and Armenia.
