Thailand's ITD, Bangladesh's BFTI sign MoU to boost trade, development
Thailand’s International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) and the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in trade and development, and collaborate in education, research, training, human resource development and policy analysis.
Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Bangladesh’s ambassador to Thailand and permanent representative to United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and ITD executive director Suphakit Charoenkul signed the agreement in Bangkok.
Their shared activities will involve organising research programmes, seminars, workshops and training sessions, as well as exchanging academic and policy knowledge.
Kazi hoped the MoU will help accelerate the joint feasibility study for the proposed free trade agreement between Bangladesh and Thailand. He also proposed organising a review seminar involving relevant business representatives and stakeholders.
Charoenkul emphasised that both sides will jointly work to ensure that trade remains a primary driving force for sustainable and inclusive development, Bangladesh media outlets reported.
