Nanofibre filaments from recycled polyester

Teijin claims to have developed the world’s first ultra-fine recycled polyester filaments, which are just 700 nanometres in diameter.

Using proprietary spinning technology, the ultra-fine polyester‘Nanofront’filaments are capable of producing, uniform, dense, but extremely lightweight knitted or woven textiles that are said to be much more soft and supple than traditional lightweight polyesters.

The Japanese textile specialist has offered‘Nanofront’fibres for a number of years, but this is the first time its spun recycled textile filaments with this technique, which was originally developed for air and liquid filtration media.

It says these new fibres–made from both post- and pre-consumer waste–now enables it to produce all of its polyester products with recycled raw materials.
