PP import and export in Apr set a new record

According to customs statistics, in April 2021, China imported around 352.8kt of PP, down 21.28% from the same period of 2020, and down 25.63% from a month earlier. Of all imports, homo PP imports accounted for 237.7kt, down 19.6% compared to the same period of last year; co PP for 98.6kt, down 26.89% year-on-year; ra co PP for 16.4kt, down 6.46% year-on-year.

According to customs statistics, in April 2021, China exported around 266.9kt of PP, up 486.76% from the same period of 2020. Of all imports, homo PP imports accounted for 249.0kt, up 509.70% compared to the same period of last year.

Judging from the import data, PP imports in April is lower than that in March.

Homo PP: From the perspective of importing countries and regions, the sources of imports from South Korea, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore have decreased significantly; from the point of view of the place of registration, the sources of goods entering Guangdong and Shanghai have decreased evidently.

Co PP: From the perspective of importing countries and regions, the sources of imports such as Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea and Thailand have decreased significantly; from the point of view of the place of registration, sources of goods entering Zhejiang Province has decreased significantly.

Export

In March and April 2021, PP exports increased significantly, far exceeding the level of the same period in previous years. The total export volume of homo PP, co PP and the PP reached record highs in the past two months. On the one hand, as foreign plants shut due to maintenance and extreme weather, market supply is tight and the demand gap is large; on the other hand, China domestic spot price is lower than the overseas market, and the export window is open, which is good for China domestic exports.

From the perspective of exporting countries and regions, compared with January, February, the supply of goods sold to Southeast Asia, South Asia and West Asia in March and April increased significantly, especially in South Asia.

Net import

Due to the huge export volume, the homo PP export volume in April exceeded the import volume, achieving a net export of 11.2kt, which was the first time in the past ten years. At the same time, the PP net import volume also hit a record low in the past ten years.
