Baling (Hunan) Petrochemical's CPL project commences successfully

On October 14th, Sinopec Baling Petrochemical has successfully started up the caprolactam A line, producing 15 tons of high-grade CPL per hour. It is part of the relocation and upgrading project of caprolactam industrial chain, and a "dual focus" project of Sinopec and Hunan Province.

 

The total investment of the project is 15.3 billion yuan. It adopts Sinopec's green and environmentally friendly new technology with independent intellectual property rights to upgrade the caprolactam industry chain. It is designed to yield an annual output of 600,000 tons of caprolactam, doubling the original production capacity. The wastewater, COD (chemical oxygen demand), and comprehensive energy consumption per unit of product can be reduced by 73%, 67%, and 20% respectively.

 

The new caprolactam plant includes three production units: ammonium oximation, ammonium sulfate, and caprolactam, with two production lines. It consists of 20 processes such as ammonium oximation reaction, filtration, and extraction water washing. In addition to the main production of caprolactam, it also produces ammonium sulfate. The process is long, the equipment is complex, and the technology is complicated. It adopts the improved ammonium oximation process technology independently developed by Sinopec, further optimizing and improving the original production process. New technologies such as sec-butanol dual recovery, fixed bed catalyst refinement, and tail gas treatment system are added to promote energy saving, reduce emissions of "three wastes", and improve product quality.

 

By mid-October, more than 20 sets of equipment including material transportation and storage, power, and utility engineering for the project had been pre-started and operated. Among them, 5 sets of process equipment had been started and operated, including sulfuric acid production, No. 2 polymerization, ammonium oximation line B, caprolactam line A, and ammonium sulfate line A.
