China's coal, crude oil and natural gas production and imports in April 2024

The production of raw coal dropped at a slower pace while imports rebounded obviously. In April 2024, the output of raw coal from industrial enterprises above designated size was 370 million tons, down 2.9 percent from the same period last year, which was 1.3 percentage points lower than that in March. The average daily output was 12.39 million tons. Imported coal was 45.25 million tons in Apr, an increase of 11.3 percent over the same period last year, data from National Statistics Bureau showed.

Crude oil production increased steadily and import growth accelerated. In April, the output of crude oil from industrial enterprises above designated size was 17.47 million tons, an increase of 1.3 percent over the same period last year, which was 0.1 percentage points higher than that in March. The average daily output was 582,000 tons. Imported crude oil was 44.72 million tons in Apr, an increase of 5.9 percent over the same period last year.

Crude oil processing volume dropped. In April, the processing volume of crude oil was 58.79 million tons, a decrease of 3.3 percent over the same period last year, compared to the growth of 1.3% in Mar. The average daily processing was 1.96 million tons.

The growth rate of natural gas production was steady, and imports maintained a relatively rapid growth. In April, the output of natural gas from industrial enterprises above designated size was 19.8 billion cubic meters, an increase of 3.2 percent over the same period last year, but the growth rate was 1.3 percentage points slower than that in March, with an average daily output of 660 million cubic meters. Imports of natural gas were 10.30 million tons, an increase of 15.1 percent over the same period last year.
