Turkey terminates safeguard investigation on imported knitted or crocheted fabrics
On April 28, 2025, the Turkish Ministry of Trade issued Announcement No. 2025/2, making a negative final ruling on the safeguard measures against imported knitted or crocheted fabrics (Turkish:Örme veya Kro?e E?ya). The decision ruled against imposing safeguard measures on the products under investigation and terminated the inquiry. The announcement took effect immediately upon its release.
Case background
On January 12, 2024, Turkey initiated a safeguard investigation on imported knitted or crocheted fabrics (see Announcement No. 2024/2). The case involved products under tariff heading 60, with value involved of $250 million.
On the afternoon of January 23, 2024, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT) held a coordination meeting for responding to Turkey's safeguard measures on knitted and crocheted fabrics, providing guidance for companies on how to participate in the proceedings. Attendees included officials from the relevant department of the Bureau of Trade Remedies under China's Ministry of Commerce, representatives from the commerce departments of Fujian, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang provinces, and the cities of Ningbo, Jiaxing, and Tongxiang, as well as representatives from the Ningbo Textile Association, Haining Warp Knitting Association, and affected enterprises.
