According to customs data, spunlace non-woven fabric export of China reached 40,079 tons in Apr 2025, exceeding 40kt per month for the second time this year. This represented a 24% year-on-year increase and a 10% month-on-month growth. The average export price dropped to $2,223/mt, declining by 3% YoY and 6% MoM. Cumulative exports from Jan to Apr totaled 144,950 tons, up 15% YoY.

The exports to the top five destinations (South Korea, U.S., Japan, Vietnam, and Brazil) totaled 20,580 tons in Apr, rising 19% YoY and 7% MoM, accounting for 51% of total exports. Exports to the U.S. fell to 2,206 tons, hitting a one-year low due to the impact of reciprocal tariffs announced in Apr. Only shipments loaded before Apr 9 were exempt from additional tariffs, leaving just 8 days for Chinese exporters to fulfill orders. The exports to major destinations generally increased on both monthly and yearly basis, except for the U.S. Exports to South Korea surpassed 10kt for the first time since Mar 2021, albeit at historically low prices. The exports to Brazil surged to a record high of 2,467 tons.

Major origins (Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Fujian) contributed 33,418 tons, up 23% YoY and 9% MoM, representing 83% of total exports. While Zhejiang's exports grew both YoY and MoM, its share of total exports declined slightly, with other regions gaining market share.

The exports in Apr outperformed expectations despite U.S. tariff headwinds. Although exports to the U.S. dropped sharply, growth in South Korea and Brazil offset the decline. However, intensified price competition was evident. Market resilience suggests losses in the U.S. market could be compensated by other regions, albeit amid heightened competition.
