Polyester cord fabric export rise but import fall in H1 2025

According to the data from China customs, import of cord fabric made from high-tenacity polyester yarn (hereinafter referred to as polyester cord fabric) was at 1455 tons in Jan-Jun, 2025, a year-on-year decrease of 48.6%, and export of polyester cord fabric was at 94195 tons, up near 12.4% on annual basis. The net exports amounted to 92741 tons, up by 14.5% on annual basis.

Polyester cord fabric is still a net exported product in China.

Monthly exports of polyester cord fabrics averaged at 15699 tons in Jan-Jun, 2025, hitting the yearly high in 18084 tons in May year to date. Imports of polyester cord fabrics hit the lowest level in Feb at 201 tons since last year and kicked the year-to-date high in May at 319 tons but fell to 210 tons in Jun.

Among the export destinations, in Jan-Jun, 2025, Thailand kept the largest export destination, accounting for around 25.3%, followed by Japan and South Korea, taking up around 8.82% and 7.33% respectively. China's polyester cord fabrics were still mostly exported to Asia.

As for the YOY change of absolute export volume, export to the most major markets increased on the year, with only export to Turkey and Poland reducing on annual basis, and the increment of exports to the South Korea remained the largest.

In summary, the export of polyester cord fabrics climbed up on the year in Jan-Jun, 2025 but the import extended lower on annual basis, and the major export destinations changed little.
